"They said, 'Burn him'" - the verse. Al-Hasan said: They gathered firewood for a long time, then they brought Ibrahim and cast him into that fire.
Yahya said: It reached me that they threw him [into the fire] using a catapult; and that was the first time a catapult was ever made.
Surat al-Anbiya' from (verse 69-73).
﴿قَالُوا حرقوه﴾ الْآيَةُ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: فَجَمَعُوا الْحَطَبَ زَمَانًا، ثُمَّ جَاءُوا بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَأَلْقَوْهُ فِي تِلْكَ النَّارِ.
قَالَ يَحْيَى: بلعني أَنَّهُمْ رَمُوا بِهِ فِي الْمَنْجَنِيقِ؛ فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ أَوَّلَ مَا صُنِعَ المنجنيق.
