"Then We created the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, then We created the clinging clot into a morsel of flesh." He remains in his mother's womb as a sperm-drop for forty nights, then he becomes a clinging clot for forty nights, then he becomes a morsel of flesh for forty nights. "Then We created the morsel of flesh into bones," meaning: the skeletal structure.

Muhammad said: "‘Alaqah (clinging clot) singular is ‘alaq; and it is blood. And the mudghah (morsel of flesh): the small piece of flesh, so named because it is the size of what is chewed. "Then We developed him into another creation," meaning: male or female; according to the tafsir (interpretation) of al-Hasan. "So blessed is Allah," it is from the root of barakah (blessing). "The best of creators," indeed, servants may create and imitate the creation of Allah, but they are not able to breathe the soul into it.

Yahya: On the authority of al-Rabi‘ ibn Subayh, from al-Hasan, who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The image-makers will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Bring to life what you have created.'" From the hadith of Yahya ibn Muhammad.

Yahya: On the authority of Abu Umayyah ibn Ya‘la al-Thaqafi, from Sa‘id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Allah said: 'Who is more unjust than one who creates as I create? So let them create..."
