Muhammad [ibn Abi Zamanin] said: It is said: "I have kept his wealth for him (waffartu 'alayhi malahu), and I keep it for him (afruhu), so it is ample (mawfur)," meaning: provided in full. From this is the saying of Zuhayr:
(And whoever bestows kindness, while not protecting his own honor... he squanders it, and whoever does not guard against revilement, will be reviled).
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يُقَالُ: وَفَّرْتُ عَلَيْهِ مَاله أفره فَهُوَ مَوْفُورٌ؛ أَيْ: مُوَفَّرٌ، وَمِنْ هَذَا قَوْلُ زُهَيْرٍ: -
(وَمِنْ يَجْعَلِ الْمَعْرُوفَ مِنْ دُونِ عِرْضِهِ … يَفِرْهُ وَمِنْ لَا يَتَّقِ الشَّتْمَ يُشْتَمُ)
