"And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets." This is a response to the polytheists when they said: "What is [the matter] with this messenger? He eats food and walks in the markets!"
"And We have made some of you for others [a] trial." The interpretation of some of them is that it means the prophets and their people. "Will you have patience?" meaning, will the messengers have patience regarding what their people say to them?
Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: In this there is an implicit meaning: "Will you have patience? [So] be patient"; this is how Ibn Abbas explained it.
Surah Al-Furqan from (verse 22 to verse 26).
﴿وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلا إِنَّهُمْ لَيَأْكُلُونَ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشُونَ فِي الْأَسْوَاق﴾ وَهَذَا جَوَاب للْمُشْرِكين (ل ٢٣٩) حِينَ قَالُوا: مَالِ هَذَا الرَّسُولِ يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ وَيَمْشِي فِي الأَسْوَاقِ؟! ﴿وَجَعَلنَا بَعْضكُم لبَعض فتْنَة﴾ تَفْسِيرُ بَعْضِهِمْ: يَعْنِي: الْأَنْبِيَاءَ وَقَوْمَهُمْ ﴿أَتَصْبِرُونَ﴾ يَعْنِي: الرُّسُلَ عَلَى مَا يَقُولُ لَهُمْ قَوْمُهُمْ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: فِي هَذَا إِضْمَارٌ: أَتَصْبِرُونَ اصْبِرُوا؛ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ ابْن عَبَّاس.
سُورَة الْفرْقَان من (آيَة ٢٢ آيَة ٢٦).
