تفسير القرآن العزيز لابن أبي زمنين
مجلد 4 · صفحة 1003٧

الترجمة · EN

"And the heaven full of paths" (al-hubuk). Ibn Abbas's interpretation is: it means its perfection/levelness. The interpretation of others is like the ripples (hubuk) of water when the wind disturbs it, and like the ripples of a crop when the wind strikes it.

Muhammad said: The 'hubuk' according to the linguists are the paths. If you strike a body of water with wind and it forms paths, it has 'hubuk'. Likewise, for sand when the wind blows over it and you see the paths in it, those are its 'hubuk'. The singular is 'hibak', like 'mithal' and 'muthul'. It can also be 'hubayka', like 'tariqa' and 'turuq'.
