"And the earth, We have spread it" (wa-al-arda farashnaha), meaning: And We have spread it, like His saying: "[He] made for you the earth a bed [firashan]" and "a carpet" [bisatan] and "a resting place" [mihadan]—"And excellent are the preparers" [fani'ma al-mahiduna].
Muhammad said: "And the earth, We have spread it," meaning: And We have spread the earth, We have spread it. His saying: "And excellent are the preparers," meaning: And We are the excellent preparers.
﴿وَالْأَرْض فرشناها﴾ أَي: وفرشناها كَقَوْلِه: ﴿جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَرْض فراشا﴾ و ﴿بساطا﴾ و ﴿مهادا﴾ ﴿فَنعم الماهدون﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: ﴿وَالْأَرْض فرشناها﴾ أَي: وفرشنا الأَرْض فرشناها، قَوْله: ﴿فَنعم الماهدون﴾ أَي: فَنعم الماهدون نَحن.
