"And of everything We have created a pair" (wa-min kulli shay'in khalaqna zawjayni). The exegesis of al-Kalbi: It is like His saying: "And that He created the two mates, the male and the female"—the male is a mate and the female is a mate—"that you may take heed" (la'allakum tadhakkaruna), meaning: in order that you may take heed and learn that He who created these things is One, the Eternal Refuge (as-Samad), and He made them as a sign for you so that you may take warning.
