"Has the message been delivered to him, from among us?"—an interrogation from them, and this interrogation is one of denial, meaning: The message was not sent down to him from among us, as they reject what Salih brought. "Nay, he is an arrogant liar"—from the root [bāb] of arrogance [ashar].
﴿أَأُلْقِيَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ مِن بَيْنِنَا﴾ على الِاسْتِفْهَام مِنْهُم، وَهَذَا الِاسْتِفْهَام على إِنْكَار أَي: لمْ ينزل الذّكر عَلَيْهِ من بَيْننَا يجحدون مَا جَاءَ بِهِ صَالح ﴿بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّاب أشر﴾ من بَاب الأشر
