"[In it is fruit, and the palm trees with sheaths (al-akmam)]" al-Hasan said: The sheaths are the fiber.
Muhammad said: The sheaths of the palm tree are what cover its heart (jummar), consisting of the palm fronds, the fiber, and the spathe; its sheath is its covering.
﴿فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَالنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ الأَكْمَامِ﴾ قَالَ الْحسن: الأكمام: الليف.
قَالَ محمدٌ: أكمام النَّخْلَة: مَا غطى جُمَّارها من السّعَف والليف والطلعة، كمها: قشرها.
