"And banana trees (or acacia trees) layered" (Wa talhin mandud), meaning: one on top of the other. By "talh," he means the trees that are on the road to Mecca. Mujahid said: They used to admire the valley of Wajj and its shade from the acacia and lote trees, so they were addressed and promised with the like of what they loved.
﴿وطلح منضود﴾ أَي: بعضه على بعضٍ يَعْنِي بالطلح: الشّجر الَّذِي بطرِيق مَكَّة. قَالَ مُجَاهِد: كَانُوا يعْجبُونَ من وَج وظلاله من طَلْحٍ وسِدْرٍ، فَخُوطِبُوا ووعدوا بِمَا يحبونَ مثله.
