{And whoever does not find, then a fast of two consecutive months before they touch one another. And whoever is unable, then feeding sixty poor persons. That is for you to believe in Allah and His Messenger; and those are the limits of Allah}" - meaning the rulings of Allah which He has set regarding zihar, consisting of emancipation, fasting, and feeding.
Muhammad said: His statement: {That is for you to believe} - the meaning is: that which we have described, so that you may believe.
Tafsir of Surat al-Mujadila from verse 5 to verse 6.
﴿فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَتَمَاسَّا فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِينًا ذَلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتلك حُدُود الله﴾ أَحْكَام اللَّه الَّتِي حدَّ فِي الظِّهَار من العِتق وَالصِّيَام وَالْإِطْعَام.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: قَوْله: (ذَلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا) الْمَعْنى: ذَلِك الَّذِي وَصفنَا لتؤمنوا.
