Then Allah revealed this verse, which abrogated it: 'Do you fear to present before your consultation charities? Then if you do not [do so] and Allah has turned to you in forgiveness, then establish prayer and give Zakah.' Meaning: Perfect the prayer, and give Zakah: Perfect the Zakah.
فَأنْزل اللَّه هَذِه الْآيَة فنسختها: ﴿أَأَشْفَقْتُم أَنْ تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَتَابَ الله عَلَيْكُم فأقيموا الصَّلَاة﴾ أَي: أَتموا الصّلاة ﴿وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ﴾ أَتموا الزَّكَاة.
