"Allah has written"—meaning: Allah has ordained—"I will surely overcome, I and My messengers."
Muhammad said: It has been said that the meaning of the messengers' victory is of two types: whoever among them was sent with war is victorious through war, and whoever among them was sent without war is victorious through argument [hujjah].
Interpretation of Surat al-Mujadilah, verse 22.
﴿كتب الله﴾ أَي: قضى اللَّه ﴿لأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا ورسلي﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: قِيلَ: إِنَّ مَعْنَى غَلَبَة الرُّسُل على نَوْعَيْنِ: فَمن بُعِث مِنْهُم بِالْحَرْبِ فغالبٌ بِالْحَرْبِ، وَمن بُعث مِنْهُم بِغَيْر حَرْبٍ فَهُوَ غَالب بِالْحجَّةِ.
