among them all. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to the Ansar: "If you wish, I will divide it for you, provided you keep the Muhajirun with you in your homes, and I shall do so. And if you wish, I will set them apart and divide this land and the palm trees among them." They replied: "O Messenger of Allah, rather, keep them in our homes, and divide the land and the palm trees among them." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) assigned it to the Muhajirun.
Muhammad said: "Al-ijaf" (driving quickly) is derived from "al-wajif", and "al-wajif" is less intense than "al-taqrib" (a specific pace of travel). It is said: "wajafa al-faras" (the horse moved quickly) and "awjaftuhu" (I made it move quickly). "Al-rikab" refers to camels. The meaning is: that there is nothing for you in it; it is exclusively for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to do with it whatever he pleases. This is what Yahya intended regarding the meaning of the verse.
Tafsir of Surat al-Hashr from verse 7 to verse 8.
بَينهم جَمِيعًا؛ فَقَالَ رَسُول الله للْأَنْصَار: إِن شِئْتُم أَن أقسم لكم وتقروا الْمُهَاجِرين مَعكُمْ فِي دُوركُمْ فعلتُ، وَإِن شئتُم عزلْتُهم وقسمْتُ لَهُم هَذِه الأَرْض وَالنَّخْل فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُول الله، بل أقرهم فِي دُورنَا، واقسْم لَهُم الأَرْض وَالنَّخْل. فَجَعلهَا النَّبِي للمهاجرين.
قَالَ محمدٌ: الإيجاف هُوَ من الوجيف، والوجيفُ دون التَّقْرِيب من السَّيْر يُقَال: وَجَفَ الفرسُ وأَوْجَفْتُه. والرِّكاب: الْإِبِل، وَالْمعْنَى: أَنه لَا شَيْء لكم فِيهِ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ لرَسُول اللَّه ﷺ خَالِصا يعْمل فِيهِ مَا أحبّ. وَهَذَا الَّذِي أَرَادَ يحيى فِي معنى الْآيَة.
