"Perhaps Allah will make, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection." When the people of Mecca embraced Islam, the companions of the Messenger of Allah mingled with them and intermarried with them. The Messenger of Allah married Umm Habiba bint Abi Sufyan, and that is the affection which Allah mentioned.
﴿عَسَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الَّذِينَ عَادَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ مَوَدَّةً﴾ فَلَمَّا أسلم أهل مَكَّة، خالطهم أَصْحَاب رَسُول الله وناكحوهم، وتزوّج رَسُول الله أمّ حَبِيبَة بنت أبي سُفْيَان، وَهِي المودّة الَّتِي ذكر اللَّه.
