"But those who disbelieve are in pride and opposition," meaning: in arrogance and separation from the Prophet; this is the interpretation of al-Suddi.
Muhammad said: Qutrub mentioned that al-Hasan used to recite "Sad" with a kasra (vowel i), from al-musadah, which means opposition. The meaning is: Oppose the Quran with your action; that is: confront it with it. He said: The Arabs say "sadaytuka" (صاديتك) meaning "I opposed you," and "tasadaytu laka" (تصديتُ لَك), meaning: I confronted you.
