entirely toward your people. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: What is it that you ask of me? They said to him: Refrain from mentioning us and refrain from mentioning our gods, and we will leave you and your God. The Messenger of Allah said: Will you give me a single word through which you would have dominion over the Arabs and the non-Arabs? Abu Jahl said: By your father, yes, and ten words with it. The Messenger of Allah said: Say: "There is no god but Allah." They recoiled from it, rose up, and said: "Has he made the gods a single God? Verily, this is a strange thing." They left while saying: [Whoever knew that a prophet would emerge in this time of ours]
كل الْميل عَلَى قَوْمك , فَقَالَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ: مَاذَا تسألونني؟ فَقَالُوا لَهُ: اُرْفُضْنَا من ذكرك وَارْفض آلِهَتنَا , وَنَدَعك وَإِلَهك، فَقَالَ رَسُول الله: أمُعْطيّ أَنْتُم كلمة وَاحِدَة تدين لكم بهَا الْعَرَب والعجم؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو جهل: لله أَبوك نعَمْ , وَعشرا مَعهَا. فَقَالَ رَسُول الله: قُولُوا: لَا إِلَه إِلَّا اللَّه. فنفروا مِنْهَا وَقَامُوا وَقَالُوا: ﴿أَجَعَلَ الآلِهَةَ إِلَهًا وَاحِدًا إِنَّ هَذَا لشَيْء عُجاب﴾. وَانْطَلَقُوا وهم يَقُولُونَ: [من علم أَن نبيًّا يخرج فِي زَمَاننَا هَذَا]
