"And Iblis certainly confirmed his assumption about them"—meaning: all the polytheists—"so they followed him, except for a party of the believers." Some of them said: Iblis said, 'I was created from fire, and Adam was created from clay, and fire consumes clay!' Therefore, he assumed that he would lead the majority of them astray.

Muhammad said: Whoever reads "saddaqa" (confirmed) with light stress, the word "zannahu" (his assumption) is in the accusative case as a verbal noun (masdar), carrying the meaning: Iblis confirmed against them an assumption he had made, and he was truthful in his assumption.
