His saying: "Ha-Mim." Al-Hasan said: "I do not know the interpretation of (Ha-Mim), (Ta-Sin-Mim), and their likes, except that a group among the Salaf (predecessors) used to say: They are names of the Surahs and their opening letters."
قَوْله: ﴿حم﴾ قَالَه الْحَسَن: مَا أَدْرِي مَا تَفْسِير (حم) و (طسم) وَأَشْبَاهُ ذَلِكَ , غَيْرَ أَنَّ قَوْمًا مِنَ السَّلَفِ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: أَسْمَاءُ السُّور وفواتحها.
