"And Allah protected him from the evils of what they plotted"—that is: He safeguarded him from that disbelief to which they invited him,
﴿فَوَقَاهُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا﴾ أَي: عصمه من ذَلكَ الْكفْر الَّذِي دَعوه إِلَيْهِ ,
