"It is He who made the night for you that you may rest therein"—meaning: that you may settle from exhaustion—"and the day as a source of sight"—that is, illuminated—"but most of the people do not give thanks," meaning: they do not believe.
﴿الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اللَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا فِيهِ﴾ يَعْنِي: تستقروا من النصب ﴿وَالنَّهَار مبصرا﴾ أَي: مضيئًا ﴿وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يشكرون﴾ لَا يُؤمنُونَ
