Then He returned to their story, saying: "That is because you used to exult in the earth without right, and because you used to behave insolently." Joy (farah) and insolence (marah) are one and the same; meaning: because you were arrogant and boastful.
ثمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى قصَّتهم فَقَالَ: ﴿ذَلِكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنْتُمْ تمرحون﴾ الْفَرح والمرح وَاحِد؛ أَي: بِمَا كُنْتُم بطرين أشرين
