"and Jesus, saying: Establish the religion," meaning: Islam.
"Great for the polytheists is that to which you invite them," regarding the worship of Allah and the abandonment of the worship of idols. "Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills," meaning: He selects for Himself; referring to the Prophets. "And guides to Himself," to His religion, "whoever turns back [to Him]," meaning: whoever is sincere to Him.
Interpretation of Surah ash-Shura from verse 14 to verse 15.
وَعِيسَى أَنْ أَقِيمُوا الدِّينَ﴾ يَعْنِي: الْإِسْلَام.
﴿كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ﴾ من عبَادَة الله وَترك عبَادَة الْأَوْثَان. ﴿اللَّهُ يَجْتَبِي إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَاء﴾ أَي: يخْتَار لنَفسِهِ؛ يَعْنِي: الْأَنْبِيَاء ﴿وَيَهْدِي إِلَيْهِ﴾ إِلَى دينه ﴿مَن يُنِيبُ﴾ من يخلص لَهُ.
