"You shall see the wrongdoers"—the polytheists—"fearful"—afraid—"of what they have earned"—which they did in this world—"while it is going to befall them," meaning: that which they feared—of the punishment of Allah.

﴿ترى الظَّالِمين﴾ الْمُشْركين ﴿مشفقين﴾ خَائِفين ﴿مِمَّا كسبوا﴾ عمِلُوا فِي الدُّنْيَا ﴿وَهُوَ وَاقِعٌ بهم﴾ أَي: الَّذِي خَافُوا مِنْهُ - من عَذَاب الله.
