Thus, He would remove from you the prophethood which He granted you—this is regarding [His] ability—yet He does not strip the prophethood away from him. "And Allah eliminates falsehood," so He grants its people no goodness in its aftermath. "And He confirms the truth by His words," thereby supporting the Prophet and the believers.
Muhammad said: "And He eliminates" (wa-yamhu), the stopping on it is with a waw and an alif. The meaning is: And Allah eliminates falsehood in every circumstance. It was written in the Mushaf without a waw because the waw is dropped in pronunciation due to the meeting of two quiescent [consonants] during connective recitation, while the articulation of the waw remains established [in the intended reading].
فَيذْهب عَنْك النُّبُوَّة الَّتِي أعطاكها , هَذَا على الْقُدْرَة؛ وَلَا ينتزع مِنْهُ النُّبُوَّة ﴿وَيَمْحُ اللَّهُ الْبَاطِل﴾ فَلَا يَجْعَل لأَهله فِي عاقبته خيرا ﴿ويحق الله الْحق بكلماته﴾ فينصر النَّبِي وَالْمُؤمنِينَ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: ﴿ويمحوا﴾ الْوُقُوف عَلَيْهَا بواو وَألف , الْمَعْنى: وَالله يمحو الْبَاطِل على كل حالٍ , وكُتبت فِي الْمُصحف بِغَيْر وَاو؛ لِأَن الْوَاو تسْقط فِي اللَّفْظ؛ لالتقاء الساكنين على الْوَصْل , وَلَفظ الْوَاو ثَابت.
