"And they said, O you magician, call upon your Lord for us" (43:49)—meaning, ask your Lord for our sake—"by what He has promised you" (43:49), regarding those who believed from among those whom the punishment was lifted from, so that they might believe.
﴿وَقَالُوا يَا أَيهَا السَّاحر ادْع لنا رَبك﴾ سَلْ لنا رَبك ﴿بِمَا عَهِدَ عنْدك﴾ فِيمَن آمن مِمَّن كشف الْعَذَاب عَنْهُم لَعَلَّهُم يُؤمنُونَ
