"And his saying, 'O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe,'" this is the statement of the Prophet complaining about his people to Allah.

Yahya said: It is recited in three ways: "qilahu" (his saying), "qiluhu," and "qilihi." Whoever recites it in the accusative (nasb) refers it to His saying: "Or do they think that We do not hear their secret and their private conversation," meaning: and We do not hear his saying. Whoever recites it in the genitive (jarr) refers it to His saying: "And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and with Him is the knowledge of the Hour," meaning: and the knowledge of his saying. And whoever recites it in the nominative (raf') considers it a new sentence (mubtada') which informs about his saying.
