Aban al-Attar said: It reached me that they both weep for him for forty mornings.
{And they were not given respite} from the punishment, meaning: the drowning.

قَالَ أبان الْعَطَّار: بَلغنِي أَنَّهُمَا يَبْكِيَانِ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعِينَ صباحا.
