Regarding His saying: "But as for those who disbelieved, were My verses not recited to you?" Allah says to them on the Day of Resurrection: "Were My verses not recited to you in the worldly life?" "But you were arrogant and you were a criminal people," meaning polytheists.
Exegesis of Surat al-Jathiya from verse 32 to verse 33.
قَوْله: ﴿وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَفَلَمْ تكن آياتي تتلى عَلَيْكُم﴾ يَقُول الله لَهُم يَوْم الْقِيَامَة: أَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا؟! ﴿فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مجرمين﴾ مُشْرِكين.
