"And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment" (meaning: filial piety). "His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship." She carried him with difficulty, and she gave birth to him with difficulty. "And his gestation" (in the womb) "and his weaning" (the end of his breastfeeding) "is thirty months."
Muhammad said: "Good treatment" (husnan) is in the accusative case (mansub) as an absolute object (masdar); the meaning is: We commanded him to act with goodness.
﴿وَوَصينَا الْإِنْسَان بِوَالِديهِ حسنا﴾ يَعْنِي: برًّا ﴿حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ كُرْهًا وَوَضَعته كرها﴾ حَملته بِمَشَقَّة، وَوَضَعته بِمَشَقَّة ﴿وَحَمْلُهُ﴾ فِي الْبَطن ﴿وفصاله﴾ فطامه ﴿ثَلَاثُونَ شهرا﴾.
قَالَ مُحَمَّد: ﴿حسنا﴾ نصبٌ على الْمصدر، الْمَعْنى: أمرناه بِأَن يحسن
