The Almighty's saying: "Destroying everything by the command of its Lord," meaning: it destroys everything it was commanded to destroy. It is the west wind (al-dabur). "So they became such that nothing could be seen except their dwellings." He is saying this to the Prophet, meaning: nothing is visible except their dwellings.
قَوْله تَعَالَى: ﴿تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَا﴾ أَي: تدمر كل شيءٍ أُمِرتْ بِهِ، وَهِي ريحُ الدَّبُور ﴿فَأَصْبَحُوا لَا تُرَى إِلَا مَسَاكِنُهُمْ﴾ يَقُوله للنَّبِي، أَي: لَا تُبْصر إِلَّا مساكنَهم
