for them}; they have no protecting friend except Satan, for he is their protecting friend. Regarding His saying in another surah: {Then they are returned to Allah, their True Protector}, its meaning is: their Master and Owner, and it is not in the category of Allah's protecting friendship (wilayah) for the believers.
Interpretation of Surah Muhammad from verse 12 to verse 14.
لَهُمْ﴾ لَا وليَّ لَهُم إِلَّا الشَّيْطَان؛ فَإِنَّهُ وليُّهم، وَقَوله فِي غير هَذِه السُّورَة: ﴿ثُمَّ رُدُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ مَوْلاهُمُ الْحق﴾ فَمَعْنَاه: مالكهم، وَلَيْسَ هُوَ من بَاب ولَايَة الله للْمُؤْمِنين.
