"Withholder of good," referring to Zakat. "Aggressor," meaning one who practices transgression. "Doubtful," meaning: in doubt regarding the Resurrection.
Muhammad said: Regarding His saying: "Throw into Hell," it is said: It is possible—and Allah knows best—that He means the driver (Sa'iq) and the witness (Shahid), due to His saying: "With it will be a driver and a witness," so they are the ones being addressed. It is also possible that it refers to a singular person, which is a dialect of the Banu Tamim. They say: "Go both of you, O man," and "Go both of you, O people." And the poet said:
﴿مناع للخير﴾ لِلزَّكَاةِ (مُعْتَد) هُوَ من قِبَل العُدوان ﴿مُرِيبٍ﴾ أَيْ: فِي شَكٍّ مِنَ الْبَعْثِ.
قَالَ محمدٌ: قَوْله: ﴿أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّم﴾ قيل: يحْتَمل - وَالله أعلم - أَن يكون عَنَى السَّائِق والشهيد؛ لقَوْله: ﴿مَعهَا سائق وشهيد﴾ فيكونا هما المأمورين، وَيحْتَمل أَن يكون وَاحِدًا، وَهِي لُغَة بني تَمِيم تَقول: اذْهبا يَا رجل، واذهبا يَا قوم، وَقَالَ الشَّاعِر:
