"Upon it are nineteen." When this verse was revealed, Abu Jahl said: "O assembly of Quraysh! I see Muhammad is frightening you with the keepers of the Fire, and he claims they are nineteen. Are every one hundred of you unable to overpower one of them so that you may escape it?" Then Abu al-Aswad al-Jumahi said: "I will suffice you against seventeen of them; ten on my back and seven on my chest. You suffice me against the other two." Then Allah revealed: [End of the interpretation of Surah al-Muddaththir from verse 31-48].
﴿عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَة عشر﴾ لمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ قَالَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ: يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ، أَرَى مُحَمَّدًا يُخَوِّفُكُمْ بِخَزَنَةِ النَّارِ، وَيَزْعُمْ أَنَّهُمْ تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ أَفَيَعْجَزُ كُلُّ مِائَةٍ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَبْطِشُوا بِوَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمْ فَتَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا؟ فَقَالَ أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ الْجُمَحِيُّ: أَنَا أَكْفِيكُمْ مِنْهُمْ سَبْعَةَ عَشَرَ عَشْرَةٌ عَلَى ظَهْرِي وَسَبْعَةٌ عَلَى صَدْرِي، فَاكْفُونِي أَنْتُم اثْنَيْنِ فَأنْزل الله: تَفْسِير سُورَة المدثر من آيَة (٣١ - ٤٨)
