"With which of you is the trial" (al-maftun), meaning: which of you is the one who has gone astray; in the commentary of al-Hasan, regarding the letter "ba" as a connector.
﴿بأيكم الْمفْتُون﴾ يَعْنِي: أَيِّكُمُ الضُّلال؛ فِي تَفْسِيرِ الْحسن بِجعْل الْبَاء صلَة (٣).
