His saying: "Woe to those who give less [than due]" refers to the Hereafter, meaning: they shall be called to woe and destruction in the Fire. It has reached me that it was revealed concerning the polytheists of the people of Mecca.
قَوْله: ﴿ويل لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ﴾ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، أَيْ: يَدْعَوْنَ بِالْوَيْلِ وَالثُّبُورِ فِي النَّارِ، بَلَغَنِي أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِي مُشْرِكِي أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ
