Muhammad said: The star is called the 'Tariq' (the Night-Comer) because it rises at night, and everything that comes at night is a tariq.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: إِنَّمَا قِيلَ لِلنَّجْمِ: الطَّارِقُ، لِأَنَّ طُلُوعَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ، وَكُلُّ مَا أَتَى لَيْلًا فَهُوَ طَارِقٌ.
