"Such is the punishment," meaning: thus was the punishment, just as I have related to you. He means: that with which He punished them, namely the destruction of their garden. "And the punishment of the Hereafter is greater" than the punishment of the world. "If only they knew," meaning: Quraish. He returned to His saying: "Indeed, We have tested them," meaning: Quraish.
