"Let them worship the Lord of this House, Who has fed them from hunger." This refers to the hardship they were experiencing at that time. "And secured them from fear," which is the safety in which the people of the Sacred Precinct (Haram) resided, while the people of the Pre-Islamic era (Jahiliyyah) were killing and enslaving one another, yet they (the Quraysh) remained secure from what the rest of the Arabs were suffering.
