"For you is your religion," meaning disbelief, "and for me is my religion," meaning Islam.
Muhammad said: It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that he said: "A group of Quraysh gathered to Al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib and said to him: 'O Abu al-Fadl, if your nephew were to touch some of our idols, we would believe him in what he says and would believe in his God.' He said: So Al-Abbas went to the Prophet and informed him of that, whereupon Gabriel descended to him with this Surah. So the Messenger of Allah went out in the morning with it to the group of Quraysh and recited it to them."
