[His saying: "in sin"]

862 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "In sin," [meaning] after [committing] disobedience. It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan similar to that.

His saying: "And aggression"

863 - With the same chain from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Aggression," he said: [It means] some forms of injustice.

His saying: "And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them"

864 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them," and you have already known that this is [incumbent] upon you in your religion.

865 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Muhammad al-'Anqazi narrated to us, Asbat ibn Nasr narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from 'Abd Khayr, he said: We fought alongside Salman ibn Rabi'ah al-Bahili in Balanjar. We besieged its people, conquered the city, and took captives. 'Abd Allah ibn Salam bought a Jewish woman for seven hundred dirhams. When he passed by the Exilarch (Ra's al-Jalut), he stayed with him and said to him: "O Exilarch, would you like to buy an old woman here who is of your religion from me?" He said: "Yes." He said: "I got her for seven hundred dirhams." He said: "I will offer you a profit of another seven hundred." He said: "I have sworn that I will not let her go for less than four thousand." He said: "I have no need for her." He said: "By Allah, you will either buy her from me or you will disbelieve in the religion you are upon." He said: "Come close to me." He came close to him and he [the Exilarch] read in his ear what was in the Torah: "You shall not find any slave among the Children of Israel but that you shall buy him and set him free: And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them," while it is forbidden for you to evict them. He said: "Are you 'Abd Allah ibn Salam?" He said: "Yes." He said: So he brought four thousand, and 'Abd Allah took two thousand dirhams and returned two thousand to him.

866 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: A covenant was taken from them that if any of them were captured, they would ransom them, yet they evicted them from their homes, then they ransomed them.

His saying: "While it is forbidden for you to evict them"

867 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, while it is forbidden for you" in your Book: "to evict them."
