891 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "a party [fariqan]" means a group.
His saying: "And they said, 'Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]'"
892 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Muslim al-Batin, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The heart [al-qalb] was only named so because of its fluctuation [taqallubihi].
His saying: "wrapped [ghulf]"

893 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]", he said: They said: Our hearts are full of knowledge; we do not need the knowledge of Muhammad nor anyone else.
894 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, they said: We read to Yahya ibn al-Durays, from Fudayl ibn Marzuq, from 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, regarding "Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]", he said: They said: Our hearts are vessels of knowledge. And it was narrated from 'Ata' al-Khurasani similarly.
And the second view:
895 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding [their saying]: "Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]", he said: It means covered. And it was narrated from Mujahid, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, al-Suddi, and Qatadah, in the report of Ma'mar, something similar.
And the third view:
896 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-'Arzami narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from my grandfather, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]", he said: We have not been circumcised.
The fourth view:
897 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, "Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]" i.e., they do not understand [tafqahu]. And it was narrated from Sa'id, from Qatadah, similarly.
The fifth view:
898 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from Fudayl, from 'Atiyyah, regarding: "And they said, 'Our hearts are wrapped [ghulf]'", he said: They are vessels for the abominable [al-munkar].
