[His saying: "And it is the truth"]

923 - My father narrated to us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Ibn al-Sammak narrated to us, from Abu Bakr, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "The truth," he said: The entire Qur'an.

His saying: "Say, 'Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you were believers?'"

924 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding "And it is the truth, confirming what is with them," then Allah said while reproaching them: "Say, 'Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you were believers?'"

His saying: "If you were believers."

925 - Mahmud ibn Adam al-Marwudhi narrated to us in what he wrote to me, he said: I heard al-Nadr ibn Shumayl saying: The interpretation of "a believer" is that he is secure [amin] from the punishment of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

926 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Junayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "If you were believers," [meaning] if you had truly believed in My prophet regarding what he brought to you from Me.

His saying: "And certainly Moses came to you with clear proofs, then you took the calf [for worship] after him, while you were wrongdoers."

927 - My father narrated to us, al-Nufayli narrated to us, Yunus ibn Rashid narrated to us, from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "With clear proofs," he said: It is the flood, the locusts, the lice, the frogs, the blood, the staff, the hand, and the decrease of fruits and years [drought].

928 - Muhammad ibn Yahya Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah, or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: Then He informed them of the raising of the Mount [al-Tur] over them and the taking of the calf as a god besides their Lord.

His saying: "While you were wrongdoers."

929 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Junayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Meaning His saying: "While you were wrongdoers," i.e., the hypocrites who manifest obedience with their tongues while their hearts persist in disobedience.
