961 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman—meaning al-Dashtaki—narrated to us, Abu Ja'far informed us, from Husayn ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla: A Jew met 'Umar ibn al-Khattab and said: "Indeed, the Jibril whom your companion mentions is an enemy to us." He said: So 'Umar said: "Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His angels, His messengers, Jibril, and Mika'il, then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers." He said: So it was revealed upon the tongue of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab.

962 - Muhammad ibn 'Awf al-Humsi narrated to us, Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Mu'an ibn Rifa'ah narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Yazid, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umamah, who said: I said: "O Prophet of Allah, how many are the prophets?" He said: "One hundred and twenty-four thousand. The messengers among them are three hundred and fifteen, a large number."

964 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, and he said: "Jibr" is a servant (abd), and "il" is Allah.
965 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn al-Ahlaj narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, who said: "Do you know what the name of Jibril is among your names?" We said: "No." He said: "Its name is 'Abd Allah." He said: "Do you know what the name of Mika'il is among your names?" We said: "No." He said: "Its name is 'Ubayd Allah. Every name that refers back to 'il' refers to Allah."
966 - Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated it, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn 'Amr ibn 'Ata', from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn. It was also narrated from 'Ikrimah, Mujahid, al-Dahhak, and Yahya ibn Ya'mar similarly.
