Fourth View:

1002 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah reported from Shu'ayb ibn Kaysan, from Thabit, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And what was revealed to the two angels," he said: "Al-Dahhak used to recite it: 'al-Malikayn' (the two kings), and he said: 'They were two scoundrels from the people of Babylon.'"

His saying: "In Babylon"

1003 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Salih narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah and Yahya ibn Azhar narrated to me, from 'Ammar ibn Sa'd al-Muradi, from Abu Salih al-Ghifari, that 'Ali ibn Abi Talib said: "My beloved, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade me from praying in Babylon, for it is accursed."

His saying: "Harut and Marut"

1004 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ubayd Allah narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Ma'ruf al-Makki, from whoever heard Abu Ja'far ibn 'Ali saying: "Al-Sijill is an angel, and Harut and Marut were his assistants."

They began to call down upon them and did not excuse them. It was said: 'They are in a state of unseen [trial].' But they did not excuse them. So they chose Harut and Marut, and they were sent down to the earth, and He granted them the desires of the children of Adam, and Allah commanded them to worship Him and not associate anything with Him, and they were forbidden from killing a forbidden soul, consuming forbidden wealth, adultery, theft, and drinking wine. They remained on the earth for a time, judging between people with truth, and that was in the time of Idris. In that time, there was a woman whose beauty among women was like the beauty of Venus (al-Zuhrah) among the rest of the planets. They came upon her and spoke softly to her, and they sought to have their way with her, but she refused unless they would agree to her terms and follow her religion. So they asked about her religion, and she brought out an idol to them and said: 'This is what I worship.' They said: 'We have no need to worship this.' They went away and remained for as long as Allah willed, then they came upon her and sought to have their way with her, and she did the same thing. They went away, then they came upon her and sought to have their way with her, and when she saw that they...
