The Fourth Aspect:

12 - My father narrated to us, [from] Abu Ma‘mar al-Qati‘i, [from] Hafs, from Hajjaj, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: ‘Umar said: "We have already come to know [the meaning of] 'Glory be to Allah' (Subhan Allah) and 'There is no god but Allah' (la ilaha illa Allah), so what is 'Praise be to Allah' (al-hamdu lillah)?" ‘Ali replied: "It is a word that Allah has been pleased with for Himself." Abu Muhammad [Ibn Abi Hatim] said: "This is how it was narrated by Abu Ma‘mar al-Qati‘i, from Hafs."

13 - It was also narrated to us by al-Ashaj, who said: "Hafs narrated to us," and he differed from him regarding it, for he said therein: ‘Umar said to ‘Ali—may Allah be pleased with them both—while his companions were with him: "'There is no god but Allah,' 'Praise be to Allah,' and 'Allah is the Greatest' (Allahu akbar), we have already known them, so what is 'Glory be to Allah' (Subhan Allah)?" ‘Ali replied: "It is a word He has loved for Himself, has been pleased with for Himself, and has loved that it be spoken."

His saying, the Exalted: "Lord of the Worlds" (Rabb al-‘alamin)

[The First Aspect]

14 - ‘Ali ibn Tahir narrated to us, [from] Muhammad ibn al-‘Ala’—meaning Abu Kurayb—[from] ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id—meaning al-Zayyat—[from] Bishr ibn ‘Umarah, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Then Gabriel (peace be upon him) said: "Say: 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.'" He said: "O Muhammad, to Him belongs all of creation: all the heavens and whoever is in them, and all the earths and whoever is in them, and what is between them, of that which is known and that which is not known."

The Second Aspect:

15 - My father narrated to us, [from] ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Musa, [from] Abu Ja‘far al-Razi, from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliyah regarding "Lord of the Worlds": He said: "Humankind is a world, and the Jinn are a world, and besides that, there are eighteen thousand worlds, or fourteen thousand worlds, of angels upon the earth. The earth has four corners, and in every corner there are three thousand and five hundred worlds that He created for His worship."

16 - My father narrated to us, [from] Hisham ibn Khalid, [from] al-Walid ibn Muslim, [from] al-Furat ibn al-Walid, from Mu‘tib ibn Sumayy, from Tabi‘, concerning His saying: "Lord of the Worlds," he said: "The worlds are a thousand nations: six hundred in the sea, and four hundred on the land."

17 - ‘Ali ibn Harb al-Mawsili narrated to us, [from] Zayd ibn al-Hubab, from Husayn ibn Waqid, from Matar al-Warraq, from Qatadah, regarding the saying of Allah: "Lord of the Worlds," he said: "That which He has described of His creation."
