His saying: "Nay, whoever submits"
1099 - Through the same chain from Abu al-'Aliyah: "Nay, whoever submits his face to Allah," he says: Whoever is sincere to Allah. Similar was narrated from al-Rabi'.
His saying: "his face to Allah, while he is a doer of good"
1100 - It was mentioned from Yahya ibn Adam, Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Haywah ibn Shurayh, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: "whoever submits his face to Allah," he said: Whoever submits and makes his face sincere, he said: his religion.
His saying: "will have his reward with his Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve"
1101 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "no fear will there be concerning them" meaning in the Hereafter, "nor will they grieve" meaning they will not grieve for death.
His saying: "And the Jews said"
1102 - My father narrated to me, 'Ali ibn Muhammad al-Tanafisi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sharik, from Jabir, from 'Abd Allah ibn Naji, he said: They were only called Jews (al-Yahud) because they said to Moses, "We have repented (hudna) to You."
His saying: "The Jews say, 'The Christians have nothing [to stand on],' and the Christians say, 'The Jews have nothing [to stand on]'"
1103 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: The freed slave of the family of Zayd—meaning Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad—narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah, or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: When the people of Najran from the Christians came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the rabbis of the Jews came to them, and they disputed in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Rafi' ibn Huraymilah said, "You have nothing [to stand on]," and he disbelieved in Jesus and the Gospel. A man from the people of Najran from the Christians said to the Jews, "You have nothing [to stand on]," and he denied the prophethood of Moses and disbelieved in the Torah. So Allah, the Exalted, revealed regarding what the two groups said: "The Jews say, 'The Christians have nothing [to stand on],' and the Christians say, 'The Jews have nothing [to stand on].'"
قوله: بَلَى مَنْ أَسْلَمَ
١٠٩٩ - وَبِهِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ: بَلَى مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ يَقُولُ: مَنْ أَخْلَصَ لِلَّهِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ
١١٠٠ - ذُكِرَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ آدَمَ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ: مَنْ أَسْلَمَ وَجْهَهُ لِلَّهِ قَالَ: مَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَخْلَصَ وَجْهَهُ، قَالَ: دِينَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ: فَلَهُ أَجْرُهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِ وَلا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
١١٠١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زرعة ثنا نحيى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: لا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ يَعْنِي فِي الآخِرَةِ وَلا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ- يَعْنِي لَا يَحْزَنُونَ لِلْمَوْتِ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ
١١٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ ثنا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عبد الله ابن نَجِيٍّ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا سُمُّوا الْيَهُودَ لأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا لِمُوسَى إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصَارَى عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى لَيْسَتِ اليهود على شيء
١١٠٣ - حدثنا محمد بن نحيى ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَوْلَى آلِ زَيْدِ- يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ- عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَهْلُ نَجْرَانَ مِنَ النَّصَارَى عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- أَتَتْهُمْ أَحْبَارُ يَهُودَ فَتَنَازَعُوا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فَقَالَ رَافِعُ بْنُ حُرَيْمِلَةَ: مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ، وَكَفَرَ بِعِيسَى وَبِالإِنْجِيلِ. فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ نَجْرَانَ مِنَ النَّصَارَى لِلْيَهُودِ مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ، وَجَحَدَ بنبوة موسى وكفر بالتوراة.
فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ قَوْلِهِمَا: وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصَارَى عَلَى شَيْءٍ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى لَيْسَتِ الْيَهُودُ على شيء
