His saying: "The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor"
37 - By the same chain, from Ibn ‘Abbas: "The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor," he says: "The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor."
His saying, the Exalted: "...upon whom You have bestowed favor"

38 - And by the same chain, from Ibn ‘Abbas: His saying: "...upon whom You have bestowed favor," he says: "The angels, the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs, those who obeyed Me and worshipped Me."

39 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor," he said: "They are the believers."
His saying: "Not [the path] of those who have earned [Your] anger"
40 - ‘Alan ibn al-Mughirah al-Misri narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja‘far Ghundar narrated to us, Shu‘bah narrated to us, he said: I heard Simak ibn Harb saying: I heard ‘Abbad ibn Hubaysh narrating from ‘Adi ibn Hatim, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "'Those who have earned [Your] anger' are the Jews, and 'those who are astray' are the Christians." Abu Sa‘id said: "I do not know of any disagreement among the exegetes regarding this letter."(1)

41 - Muhammad ibn ‘Ammar ibn al-Harith narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Sa‘d al-Dashtaki narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn Abi Qays informed us, from Simak ibn Harb, from ‘Abbad ibn Hubaysh, from ‘Adi ibn Hatim, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while he was sitting in the mosque and he said: "Indeed, the Jews are those who have earned anger, and the Christians are those who have gone astray."
42 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-‘Ala’ Abu Kurayb narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah narrated to us, Abu Rawq narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abbas: "...nor the path of the astray," and they are the Christians whom Allah caused to go astray due to their obstinacy towards Him. He says: "Inspire us with Your true religion, which is that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, so that You do not become angry with us as You were angry with the Jews, and do not lead us astray as You led the Christians astray, so that You punish us as You punish them." He says: "Protect us from that through Your kindness, Your mercy, Your tenderness, and Your power." Abu Muhammad said: "I do not know of any disagreement among the exegetes regarding this letter."

٣٧ - بِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ يَقُولُ: طَرِيقَ مَنْ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ.

٣٨ - وَبِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: قَوْلُهُ: أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ يَقُولُ: الْمَلائِكَةِ وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ الَّذِينَ أَطَاعُونِي وَعَبَدُونِي.

٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا شِبْلٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ:
صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ: هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ.
قَوْلُهُ: غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ
٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ غُنْدَرٌ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سِمَاكَ بْنَ حَرْبٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَبَّادَ بْنَ حُبَيْشٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-: الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ: الْيَهُودُ، وَلا الضَّالِّينَ: النَّصَارَى. قَالَ أَبُو سعيد: وَلا أَعْلَمُ بَيْنَ الْمُفَسِّرِينَ فِي هَذَا الْحَرْفِ اخْتِلافًا «١» .
قوله تَعَالَى: وَلا الضَّالِّينَ
٤١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمَّارِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الدَّشْتَكِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ مَغْضُوبٌ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَالنَّصَارَى ضُلالٌ.
٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، ثنا أَبُو رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: وغير طريق الظالمين، وَهُمُ النَّصَارَى الَّذِينَ أَضَلَّهُمُ اللَّهُ بِعِزِّيَّتِهِمْ عَلَيْهِ، يَقُولُ: فَأَلْهِمْنَا دِينَكَ الْحَقَّ، وَهُوَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ حَتَّى لَا تَغْضَبَ عَلَيْنَا كَمَا غَضِبْتَ عَلَى الْيَهُودِ، وَلا تُضِلَّنَا كَمَا أَضْلَلْتَ النَّصَارَى فَتُعَذِّبَنَا كَمَا تُعَذِّبُهُمْ. يَقُولُ: امْنَعْنَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِرِفْقِكَ وَرَحْمَتِكَ وَرِقَّتِكَ وَقُدْرَتِكَ. قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَلا أَعْلَمُ فِي هَذَا الحرف اختلافا بين المفسرين.
