His saying: "Toward the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram)"
[The First Interpretation]
1360 - Ahmad ibn Mansur al-Marwazi narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn Shumayl narrated to us, Yunus ibn Abi Ishaq informed us, from al-Bara', regarding His saying: "So turn your face toward the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram)," he said: Its center.
And the second interpretation:
1361 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, who said: I said to Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "So turn your face toward the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram)," he said: Does it mean to you the half (nisf)? I replied: No, it means: toward it (tilqa'ahu). This was also narrated from Mujahid, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and 'Ikrimah, similar to that.
1362 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Isma'il al-Minqari narrated to us, Wuhayb narrated to us, from Dawud, from Rufay': "So turn your face toward the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram)," he said: It means toward it (tilqa'ahu) in the Abyssinian language.
His saying: "And wherever you are, turn your faces toward it."
[The First Interpretation]
1363 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym al-Fadl ibn Dukayn narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amirah ibn Ziyad al-Kindi, from 'Ali: "And wherever you are, turn your faces toward it (shatrahu)," he said: "Shatrahu" among us means toward it (qiblahu). This was also narrated from al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, Ibn 'Abbas, Mujahid, and Qatadah, similar to that.
The Second Interpretation:
1364 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "Turn your faces toward it (shatrahu)," meaning: toward it (tilqa'ahu). It was also narrated from Qatadah and al-Rabi' ibn Anas, similar to that.
His saying: "And indeed, those who have been given the Scripture know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do."
1365 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: Then Allah revealed concerning the Jews: "And indeed, those who have been given the Scripture know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do."
