His saying: "Then when you are safe"
1787 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, regarding His saying: "Then when you are safe," he said: When he recovers and continues from his state [of ihram] until he reaches the House (the Ka'bah), he shall release himself from his Hajj by an 'Umrah, and he shall have to perform Hajj the following year. If he returns without completing it to the House from that state, he shall have to perform a Hajj and an 'Umrah for delaying the 'Umrah. Ibrahim said: I mentioned that to Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and he said: That is how Ibn 'Abbas said it regarding all of this.
1788 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Sulayman al-A'mash narrated to us, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah: "Then when you are safe"—meaning when he is safe from what he was suffering. Ibrahim said: I mentioned that to Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and he said: This is the statement of Ibn 'Abbas, and he counted three with his hand.
1789 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il ibn Salim al-Makki narrated to us, Rawh narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, who said: I said to 'Ata': Did Ibn 'Abbas use to say: "Then when you are safe"—meaning you who are prevented (muhsar), and the people are safe, so whoever performs tamattu'? He said: Ibn 'Abbas did not interpret it like that; rather, he would say: This verse—the verse of tamattu'—encompasses all of that, both the one who is prevented and the one whose way is cleared.
It was narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah, 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, and Tawus that they said: "Then when he is safe" from his fear.

1792 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, that Malik ibn Anas narrated to him, from Ibn Shihab, from Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, that he narrated to him that he heard Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas and al-Dahhak ibn Qays during the year when Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan performed Hajj, and they were discussing tamattu' with the 'Umrah to the Hajj. Al-Dahhak said: No one does that except those who are ignorant of the command of Allah. Sa'd said: How evil is what you have said, O son of my brother. Al-Dahhak said: Indeed, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab forbade that. Sa'd said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) performed it, and we performed it with him.
